Outlaw Child Abuse in Schools

In 2002, a 14 year old special education student in Texas was killed because his teacher was holding him in a face down restraint, even though the child was repeatedly saying that he couldn't breathe. Minutes later he died on the classroom floor. Within the last 20 years, their have been many cases of things like this. Resulting in emotional scarring, and sometimes even death. The root of our problem is our failure to provide direction amd reinforcement.

I think that this should not be that difficult of a problem to fix. Its common sense when it comes to a child abuse. But I'm sure that when special ed teachers are getting frustrated with their students, they don't think through what they are doing, and I'm sure they regret their decisions later.

Eastern Europe not feeling obama's love

In one of Sheana Kennealy's recent blogs, she summarized an article on how many European countries disagree with Obama and his plans. She also talked about how they did not agree with how Bush ran the country, but it was still better than what Obama is doing now. In her opinion, she believes that people are always looking for someone to blame for something, and in this case all the blame falls on the president. She also supports Obama, and believes that what he is doing will benefit all the world, and not just the U.S.A.
I would have to disagree that so many countries are disagreeing with Obama. I did an article earlier this month, and I found that America's status is actually improving in the world. Many countries approve how we are handling some of our bigger issues including, Iraq, Isreal, and other issues. But I do agree with Sheana that what Obama is doing now is benefiting everyone.

Search ends for missing after midair collision

After searchers scoured the Pacific ocean for 60 hours, authorities decided to call off the search-and-rescue mission for the nine people who crashed into the ocean after a Coast Gaurd C-130 plane collided with a Marine AH-1 helicopter on Thursday. The conclusion is that no one would have been able to survive this long, that the longest they could have survived was up to 20 hours. the Coast Gaurd had covered 644 miles, without finding a trace of anyone. the Coast Gaurd announced that a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m friday at the Coast Gaurd station in Sacremento.
I feel very bad for the families of the people who died in the accident. Its even worse that none of the bodies were found. I think that it is a very unfornunate, and unpredictable thing to have happen.

Mexico extradites record number to U.S.

Over the weekend 11 mexican fugitives were extradited to the United States, making the year 2009 to have the most total extradites ever. the current extraditions is now 100, topping last year's 95. Mexican President Felipe Calderon has emphasized extraditions to fight against drug dealers. Many drug dealers have been known to escape Mexican prison's, and continue to work inside them.
I think that it is good that Mexico is trying different tactics to stop the on-going struggle with drug dealers. I think that if the drug dealers are extradited to the U.S. it will put a halt to their business since they are so far away from their company. Also I'm sure that the prisons are more secure here in the U.S. than in Mexico.

U.S. set to pay Taliban members to switch sides

Experts of the region believe that creating a program to pay the Taliban to quit the orginization will buy temporary loyalty. On Wednesday, Obama signed a $680 billion defensive bill that will pay for military operations in 2010. The Taliban will be recieving $1.3 billion. The plan is to seperate the Taliban from their leaders, and put a stop to the surge against americans in Iraq. Sen. Carl Levin says that the Taliban are moitivated mostly by the need for a job and a loyal leader, not religion. The bill has been a main priority now after many Americans have lost their lives in the past few months. On Tuesday, 8 soldiers were killed in a attack in southern Afghanistan. Levin also says that many Iraqis have switched to our side due to the promise of jobs and anmesty of past attacks.

After what I have a heard of the Taliban, I don't think that they can be trusted. I think that $1.3 billion dollars is a lot of money, and what would they spend it on? I think whatever it is, it would only cause more problems for us.

On New Orleans visit, Obama tells critics, "I'm just getting started"

On Thursday, President Obama visited a town hall in New Orleans, Louisiana. Obama replied to his critics who claim he has completed little while being in office for 9 months, saying "I'm just getting started." Obama has gotten a lot of criticism for his visit in New Orleans. Even 4 years after Katrina, theres still about 60,000 homes abandoned, and about 1,500 people are still living in temporay homes. However, since Obama has taken office, 1.4 billion dollars has been sent to aid for those who have suffered from Katrina. Also, more than 1 billion dollars from the stimulus package has also been sent to Louisiana. Obama will spend less than 4 hours in the area, going to a charter school as well. Republican Representatives are dissapointed that Obama will only be spending a few short hours in the region, stating that New Orleans deserves more than a "drive through daiquiri."

I don't think that the delay in returning New Orleans to its normal state is all of Obama's fault. I think that the citizens of New Orleans need to take matters into their own hands. If they truly want life to be like it was before Hurricane Katrina, then they shouldn't wait for somebody else to come do a job that they have the ability to do.

Artic ice to vanish in summer, report says

On Thursday, new data was released which claims that the Arctic Ocean will be "largely ice free" during the summer months within the next 10 years. The data was presented by the UK-based Catlin Arctic Survey and the World Wildlife Fund. The researchers forsee within the next couple of decades that the Arctic Ocean will be completely clear of ice. They surveyed the northern part of Beaufort Sea and found that most of the ice was first year ice. The scientists are worried by this because normally it is made up of much older, thicker ice. People from the WWF believe that changes in sea-ice cover will only increase global warming.

I think that its time for country leaders to step and try to prevent this from happening. This global warming has been going on for long enough and it needs to be stopped before it gets even worse. I think that eventually if the world doesn't do something to stop global warming now, the consequences will become very severe, and it will be too late to do anything about it.

Obama's Global Support put to the test?

So far Obama has gone through some pretty tough challenges, and now he faces another one, maintaining the U.S.'s popularity throughout the world. Obama will be meeting with many country leaders this week, including the Chinese president Hu Jintao, and Japan's new prime minister. Recent surveys have shown that the most parts of the world are showing confidence in Obama. One big concern that Obama faces, is the Middle East. He has made a few speeches this summer in Isreal, which has improved the attitudes of Isrealis toward the U.S. Another problem is Afghanistan, Gen. Stanley McChrystal has warned that more troops are needed, or the entire 8-year-war will have been a waste. So for now, we will just have to wait and see how Obama's image is affected by his upcoming decisions.
